When the group first started out in 1995 with Nelisiwe Tshabalala as lead singer with her debut album Uxolo, little did she know that she would one day have a thriving music career. But with the late legendary maskandi musician Ukhansela as her producer and manager over the years, as well as Nkuxa Ndlovu, success was inevitable. On this particular recording which contains 10 new tracks, Nelisiwe has teamed up with Zenzile Xulu, who is extremely excited to be a part of Amadodakazi.
The album contains tracks such as the title track Uthando, which talks about how women are being misled by men who claim to love them when they really just have ulterior and selfish motives. Afterwards they ignore you and do not respond to you at all.
The song titled Amazwi Ami should ring a bell for many parents who know what it is to discipline a stubborn child. The song talks about a child lying in hospital because he or she failed to accept correction and guidance from their parents.
The album contains a gospel track titled Makholwa. "I have always included a gospel track on the recordings,” Nelisiwe said. Both Nelisiwe and Zenzile The two ladies both love church and believe that we are here on earth because of God and that all we have is by His grace. "I am where I am and what I am because of God," says Nelisiwe.
Like any musician who knows the value of their fans, Nelisiwe cannot express enough her gratitude to her fans for their loyal support over the years. “They have really done a lot for me and I am truly blessed that they have kept continued to support Amadodakazi since we started in the 90’s,” she said.
Uthando is a celebration of love, life and relationships and is a fitting farewell for Ikhansela, without whom, Amadodakazi would not have even been in existence. “Although we can never find another guitarist, producer and manager like him, we will keep moving forward with Nkuxa still by our side,” Nelisiwe added.
