Youth With Mission

The gospel choir, Youth With Mission, was established on 15 June 1995. The group was formed because the 12 original members felt the need for the gospel to be preached to those who did not attend church. They knew that through music they could reach the youth who didn’t attend church.

Although the group members have changed over the years, the groups vision remains the same. The choir’s 12 current members are made up of members of the Assemblies of God church in East London. The group is currently being lead vocally by gospel solo artist, Khanyisa. Khanyisa has been with the group since it’s formation in 1995.

Youth With Mission’s musical history is a great success story.  They currently have 8 successful previous releases to their name. Of these 8 albums, 2 have sold to gold status. The albums are titled “Kuhle Moya Wam” and “Iyeza Inkosi”. “Kuhle Moya Wam” is said to have contained 7 hit tracks.

Their second album, “Kungamandle-gazi”, represents a great time landmark in the history of group and saw them performing on stages with the likes of Rebecca Malope. The groups first hit, “U-Petro”, which was produced by the great Sizwe Zakho, will never be forgotten.

In 1997, Youth With Mission again showed their great potential when they were nominated for a SAMA award. Although they did not win the award, the honour of being nominated only signified great things to come.

Together, Youth With Mission have ventured throughout the country and beyond, to Swaziland and Lesotho, spreading the word of God through their outstanding performances. Youth With Mission are not only using their talents to preach the gospel of Christ Jesus, but also to support community based projects. They believe that it is purely through God’s strength and grace that they have overcome many barriers and can help others do the same. All the members of Youth With Mission feel strongly about living out the lifestyle that they preach about.

The group recently signed on with Bula Music and are about to release their ninth album. The album is titled “uJehova Ngumalusi”. The group was glad to have Bigboy Mlangeni produce their album. Bigboy Mlangeni had worked with the group previously, doing marketing and promotions.

The 12 track album contains 5 original compositions and many unique arrangements. Plug tracks on the album include “uJehova Ngumalusi”, “Uzuko” and “Ufanelwe Wudumo”. The album, which accommodates both the young and old, is a definite gem in the gospel genre.
