She enjoyed her first taste of music when she was only 7 years old, a charming little girl who captured her local church with her beautiful voice. In no time at all she was singing for her school and later represented her local community choir.
Her impressive musical background spanning over 10 years includes hit albums that have made Kholeka a household name, such as Masizilungiselele, Umkhulu Jehova and Uyabizwa. Since her early days in Johannesburg, after leaving her hometown Willowvale in Umtata, Eastern Cape, Kholeka has grown and blossomed into the exceptional musician we have come to love. She has developed at an alarming rate and taken the challenges of the industry all in her stride. She is now an established songwriter and often contributes material to her albums, including her new album Linamandla Eli Gazi.
Some of the highlights in Kholeka’s career include her nomination with the prestigious Channel O, for Best Female Gospel Video in 2005. Her stunning performance has also established her as a favourite for live shows. Her popularity has spread to markets other than traditional gospel markets as she has been invited to perform at the esteemed Joy of Jazz festivals. Over the years Kholeka has worked with some of the biggest names and learned the ins and outs of the industry.
A firm believer in the value of education, Kholeka is setting an example by studying for a Communications Degree with UNISA. Although music is her passion, she knows that it is essential to have a good education to fall back on. She believes that a communications degree will help her in her musical career.
